INTEGROIL PROJECT AT EUROPEAN LEVEL
The INTEGROIL Project aims to offer a solution for the treatment of complex industrial wastewater for reuse. The project is led by the Spanish company ACCIONA Agua , which has built a modular pilot plant consisting of various individual treatment technologies controlled by a novel decision-support system.
The technologies used are flotation, ceramic ultrafiltration, wet air catalytic oxidation, advanced oxidation, and reverse osmosis. These systems were designed and built by each of the project partners and assembled in shipping containers to optimize transport and installation.
In this type of project, it’s very important to be able to encapsulate all the machinery within a shipping container . This is because shipping containers are very robust and watertight , ensuring all the machinery is well protected. Furthermore, their standard dimensions simplify and reduce the cost of transport to any location on the planet.
The transformation of the maritime containers was awarded to the company ZARCA SL
Transformation of Maritime Containers in the Integroil Project
The conversion of the shipping containers for the project was awarded to ZARCA SL , a Barcelona-based company that has been selling, renting, and converting shipping containers for over 30 years . ZARCA has extensive experience in this type of conversion of shipping containers for industrial use, so ACCIONA received the converted shipping containers exactly as its engineers had requested.
The project is now in its third and final year and is already being tested in real-world scenarios in the oil and gas sector, in crude oil extraction and processing in refineries.
Below you can see a video showing the construction work and its transfer to the Tordera desalination plant (Girona), where the demonstration phase has now been successfully completed.
